Visegrad Youth Association

Visegrad Youth Association is an international non-governmental organization consisting of youth organizations and inidividual people. The Association is an independent and politically neutral organization, which acts respecting the rules of equality and openness. Joining the Association is voluntary and does not harm the sovereignty of the member organizations. Official language of the Association is English.

VYA is refers to the tradition of the Visegrad Youth Confederation – coalition of youth organizations from the V4 countries which started their co-operation in 2001 at the 1st Visegrad Youth Conference in Warsaw and realized consecutive Visegrad Youth Conferences in Budapest (2002), Bratislava (2003) and Prague (2004) as well as international projects, e.g. Visegrad Yearbook 2003, International Student Camp – Zabinki 2002 and 2003.

For its mission the Association recognizes strengthening the Visegrad co-operation and intercultural dialogue by enhancing the regional dimension of co-operation and the organizations acting in the field of youth and education, pursuance for multiplying the strength of activities of the member organizations on the European level as well as creating possibilities of progress for young people from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.

There are two types of membership: regular and supporting. Youth organizations can be regular or supporting members whereas individual people can be supporting members.
